What do I need to provide for my child to play soccer in KYSA?

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

For U6 to U12 players, each will receive as part of their registration fee a Wendy's KYSA jersey, a pair of black shorts, and a pair of black socks. U14 to U18 players receive jerseys and socks, but must provide their own shorts. All players must provide soccer boots (rubber cleats only) and shin pads.

When will the season begin?

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

For 2011, the season, weather permitting, will open on April 11. At a coaches' meeting on April 5 team lists will be distributed, and coaches will begin phoning players shortly afterwards. Practice days and locations are chosen by the coaches, and will begin the week of April 11.

Can I choose which coach or players my child is with?

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

No. In order to try to ensure balanced teams, KYSA reserves the right to assign players to teams. Please check the Team Selection Procedures under Policies on this website.

What are the boundaries for Kelowna Youth Soccer?

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

KYSA serves the downtown Kelowna, north end, Glenmore, North Glenmore, Dilworth, and the area south of Highway 97 bounded by Benvoulin Road and KLO Road. New families living in Okanagan Mission, Rutland and West Kelowna should contact the clubs for those areas (see our Links page).

We cannot afford for our children to play soccer. Does KYSA provide financial assistance?

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

KYSA has fixed costs which require us to generate funds through registration fees. There are a number of agencies (eg Kidsport, Canadian Tire Jump Start) which help parents pay for sports activities for their families. Check the Financial Assistance tab under KYSA Info for how to apply. Where there is a need to spread out payments, contact the administrator at kysa@shaw.ca for alternatives.
